OUR STORY
The Arrow Brewing Company and The Oak Bar, located in Arrowtown, New Zealand, were launched in December 2008 by five craft beer enthusiasts who felt there was an available market niche for locally brewed beer and a meeting place for both locals and visitors.
There is also a little history involved with the venture. The location of our micro brewery and bar was once the site of the legendary Royal Oak Hotel, hub of the historic settlement of Arrowtown. We’ve tipped our hat to this and named our bar The Oak and it’s pleasing to note we are fast becoming just as much of a focal point.
“We are appealing to not only enthusiastic locals but also a growing tourist clientele. We are finding that Arrowtown people, ranging from family groups to older local residents, are now enjoying a social night out where they once may have just stayed at home.”
IThe colourful heritage of this gold mining area is also reflected in the beers we brew with many being named after early pioneers - Tobin’s, Fox’s, Gentle Annie, Mace’s..
“Many of our local customers can identify with these names and it’s always a good talking point with out of town visitors.”
